I am very proud and it is my great pleasure to welcome you to the Delta House, Inc. website.  Our website is a great source of information and has been beautifully designed to guide you through the various services, activities and programs that support the mission and vision of Delta House, Inc.

Delta House, Inc. is a community based nonprofit organization whose volunteers are dedicated to improving the lives of individuals living in South Carolina.  As part of our mission we strive to be the bridge that will point families in our communities to be a brighter and more fulfilling future by providing educational, public services and social initiatives that will be of benefit to the current and future generations.

The Delta House, Inc. rich history demonstrates our long-term commitment to our community.  The first facility was purchased in 1979 and named “The Delta House.”  It was located at 2308 Haskell Avenue in Columbia.  On February 20, 1980, Delta House, Inc. was chartered by the South Carolina Office of the Secretary of State and United States Internal Revenue Service (IRS) as a 501©(3) non-profit organization.  On February 24, 1993, the Delta House on Haskell Avenue was sold and on June 27, 1992, the property was purchased at 5307 Fairfield Road in Columbia.  The property was developed into the Delta Life Development Center where it remains today.

The principal objectives of Delta House, Inc. include:

  • Establishing, maintaining, and encouraging high cultural, intellectual standards.
  • Engaging in public service programs that will significantly improve the quality of life for individuals in the community.
  • Promoting and encouraging achievement in education by granting scholarships and providing other assistance.

Our members are committed to the tenants of our service model that include:

  • Community – We are committed to enhancing the overall well-being of communities in South Carolina. Communities are the backbone of our society where we share common social values and responsibilities.
  • Cultural Standards – We support cultural and intellectual standards and expectations that guide each of us as members of our communities.
  • Facility Rental – Delta House is available to our members and the larger community to host events, conferences and special occasions.
  • Food Baskets – We are committed to helping the immediate needs of individuals and families to ensure that none are left without the basic essentials.
  • Future Generations – It is important to leave a legacy for future generations. By working to see that the mission and vision for Delta House, Inc. is always our driving force we are ensuring that years later people will appreciate our efforts.
  • Scholarships – Grants and scholarships advocate and support educational excellence.
